Bridging the Gap Between AI Curiosity and Utility
While adoption of AI tools like ChatGPT is high among gig workers, many users struggle to move beyond basic interactions. Data from Grab indicates that while 50% of their Singaporean driver-partners already use AI, a significant majority of non-users are open to adoption. The GO Forward with AI initiative aims to convert this curiosity into tangible business outcomes by focusing on the specific decision-making challenges faced by platform workers and local merchants.
Practical Application Through Targeted Training
The program focuses on moving from general AI usage to agentic workflows. By utilizing the OpenAI Academy curriculum, the workshops teach participants how to:
- Business Ideation: Using LLMs to brainstorm new business concepts and develop execution plans.
- Operational Efficiency: Analyzing sales data to identify patterns, planning promotions, and preparing for demand fluctuations.
- Technical Execution: Leveraging tools like ChatGPT Work to build simple websites, create data dashboards, and automate administrative tasks that would otherwise require a dedicated team.
Scaling Through Localized Partnerships
The initiative is designed for long-term impact through a train-the-trainer model. By training GrabAcademy instructors, the program ensures that the curriculum can be adapted to local market needs as it expands from Singapore to Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam by 2027. This builds upon previous technical collaborations, such as the Driver AI Assistant, which has already been deployed to nearly 500,000 drivers to help optimize time management and demand forecasting.
